Dylan Gould ??

Is anybody else confused by Dylan's character? I can't fathom why he would help the decepticons.. Why on earth would he want the entire planet enslaved? What's in it for him? Does he really think that he won't become a slave too? And or that he will be in charge or something?
After the decepticons kill thousands of people and destroy the city he is shocked and off-put. You can tell he doesn't want this to happen.. So why didn't he give the finger to Megajerk and switch swides?

He was deceived - it has happened repeatedly throughout history. He was basically told that there would be a new world order with Decepticons in charge and that by helping them he would be practically a king. The strategy is very common and Dylan was too self absorbed to know the ruse.

He explicitly said that he wanted to survive. All the other Decepticon agents were getting killed, but he was being saved up to be Earth's leader. He would do anything to stay safe and not get slaughtered, even stand by and watch the Chicago massacre and convince the Decepticons to start executing Autobots; he had no way to escape, so he decided to go along with them and do what he could to stay alive.

It'd have been nice to see that all his efforts be in vain and have them kill him anyway.

It's also very reminiscent of the classic Transformers episode "The Ultimate Doom" from the original series.

His motivations are extremely clear.

He wanted "40 more years" and joined the side he thought was "going to win."

Furthermore, right up until the Decepticons found an even BETTER human "mole" in Sam Witwicky, Dylan Gould himself was ALSO wearing the same wristwatch alt. mode Decepticon they used to keep Sam under their thumb.

"You think they give you a choice?"

Sure, he could've stepped further away from they "clients" he "inherited" from his father at that point, but obviously he was kinda committed by then.

Plus, he's a jerk and just liked the idea of being in charge, even if only under the direction of his Decepticon overlords.
