Reactions in forums and from people are annoying and do not help much ...
I think it takes a lot to watch this, biased and unfairly presented as it may have been, and it is hard to know how to interpret and weigh what is out there.
I admit it, I love most all Woody Allen movies, but I also think that whatever happened to Dylan Farrow has crippled her life by stigmatizing her in a way that she could not and can not process or overcome. Lucky she is rich and has connections and huge emotional support, but what about all the other victims of icky, incompetent or malicious parents? How does one get support or protection from their own parents? In that light, I care about Dylan's side of the story ... but I don't know what it is, and how can it be parsed or understood? Sure, there is a part of Mia that is supporting her adopted child,
Going with the fiction of a trial Allen V. Farrow ... but why is not really Farrow or Farrows V. Allen? That is dishonest. Then secondhand hearsay comments from psychiatrist that Allen's relationship with Dylan was inappropriately intense after seeing the two greet each other. Or that he applied sunblock to her butt and someone says they saw this .... 30 years ago? What are we to make of that? Who knows if they are even true, or to what extent time has distorted those memories?
I do think Dylan was damaged psychologically, but I don't think the state of psychiatry or the law is able to determine the truth or what the damages were ... it just sucks for Dylan and all the other children who live in sub-optimal or abusive families ... which, face it, is most of us. A lot to think about here and process.
I am willing to watch with an open mind, but I do resent the never-ending attacks on Woody Allen, as if dumping on everything he does and smearing his name is going to bring justice or anything positive to this sad story. What is his responsibility and what should be Dylan's compensation or punishment if one is even deserved?
I just also do not like the partisan comments, especially ones that do not take the time to think or even spell check common words. Some people should not be allowed to comment in public forums.
