I found it hard to feel too sorry for Dover (Spoilers)

I mean he resorted to torture of a person who was retarded. He beat the guy beyond recognition. If Dover was rescued at the end, I imagine he would have gone to jail.

I think we can reasonably guess he was rescued. I don't think we were meant to feel bad for him, just bad for his kid. What would you do to save your own child? By the way it's 2017;
I don't think we should be using that word anymore.
