This movie was my fantasy!!

When i was like 14.

Time to rant:

Im 27 now when i look back at high school, I can really identify with anyone who goes through bullying.

I did, in fact I asked my parents to allow me to change schools after i fell out with an in crowd and got the subsequent social outcasting association that came with that. Things got so bad for me with being depressed that a lot of my thoughts, and actions, I now look back on with a shudder. I wont get into it too much but you can probably guess the things I attempted.

But then its funny because by the time i was 18, and in my final year, I had such a tight group of 20 close real friends that I knew they would be with me for the rest of my life and do anything for me.

And they have.

It cliche but its true what they say, in ten years time you can look back and realise it was a hard time sure, but how much better life becomes!

Now I know, personally, that hearing that at the time makes you just think the person has no idea what the *beep* they are talking about, that they dont know how hard you got it, but it is true.

All of the people I know who experienced bullying went on to university and got great jobs, and grew into themselves. Some are rich, some are travelling the world with their third eye well opened, and some have attained some sucesses in aspects they never thought possible. The conclusion?? They're all happy. Ask them for any story on high school and they'll blank. Ask them for any other story and you'd be amazed at what they've done since then.

After leaving high school with not so many happy memories I have also gone on to live a semi-charmed life. Got a decent degree, it got me a well paying job that allowed me to leave home and go live in UK for the past 3 years. Have travelled Europe, Africa, Asia, have met the love of my life but not before romancing a decent amount of lovely ladies, the physical comparitive likes of which probably wouldnt have looked at me twice at high school

But the best part?? One of my buddies went back to our 10 year high school reunion this year for a laugh. And what he found was pretty standard with what a lot of others write about it. Most of the popular girls are single but have a kid or four, to one of the guys, but who is now with someone else.

Most of the guys, 10 years on, still didnt bother talking to my friend, but this time he could work out why.

How do you explain to a guy what its like to enjoy an amazing steak with a beautiful woman and a bottle of wine while seeing the sun set on the Eiffel Tower when they havent been further than 100 miles from their home?

Thats where this movie had it wrong. These people dont bully you because they can, they bully you because they are jealous.

Nerds, geeks, weirdos and outcasts, you will inherit the world. You will experience far greater things than winning the highschool football championship. You will make a difference in this world and get to experience all its true enlightenments and insights.

Thats why they bully you, jealousy. And interrogate one enough and theyll admit it, petty jealousy. Its their one major chance in their life, which will be in the minority of your life, to be better than you.

All the popular girls dont go on to become famous models, and all the guys dont become famous sports stars.

They become nothing. And the sad part is, they'll produce another fresh generation of nothings.

Thank you very much for the encouraging post. I really appreciate it. I was a victim of bullying all through grade school. Life was a living hell that time, but now it gets better, thankfully. I became a smarter, wiser, and stronger person, and I just got the best job ever. Now I can't wait to make some new friends who are loyal and true to me, and falling in love with the right woman for me. It never fails to satisfy me that former victims of bullying have become happier and successful. Wishing all the best for all the people who are going through, or have been through bullying. Thank you very much for sharing this.

I must say that I don't think that all bullies do it because they are jealous. I was much younger when I was bullied and it was too early to say who would succeed in life.

But I do recognize that shudder, you get, when you think about the dark thoughts you had when you were younger. I had them too and of all the therapy I've gotten throughout my life, none of it dealt with those dark thoughts about payback. Ironically it might have worked in contrary to the therapy I got.
Those dark thoughts disappeared with age and growing up. But what I hate is that my bully still didn't get what was coming to him. He should have failed in life, but he didn't. He got off easy to be honest...

I've only truly hated two people in my life. One of them is that bully. I don't think I hate him anymore, but I hate that he probably never regretted what he did. He probably still doesn't understand what horrible things he did to me.

I really hope that karma exists. 'Cause him and the other guy I hate (he's never hurt me directly, but he has hurt many others and continues) deserve it.

I know it's not the morally correct thing to say. And I'm not saying that what the kids in The Final did was alright at all! But sometimes it'd be nice if karma existed and took care of those people, so they could realize what they had done.

Observation: I can't see a thing. Conclusion: Dinosaurs.

First of all, I'm really sorry to hear that you were bullied when you're younger. Second of all, I know it hurts to know that the people who gave us a hard time didn't seem to get what was coming to them. But my only advice is try to ignore the person who gave you a hard time and keep focusing on what is more important to you. Karma DOES exist. And I'm sure that the bully you've talked about will get his karma, sooner or later. You just have to be patient and do things that can make you happier. The more you ignore that bully, the more you can move on and be a stronger and happier person. I hope my advice can help you, because I was bullied too when I was younger and it breaks my heart to hear sad stories of people who get bullied. I'm wishing you the best.

I, too, like your post. Congratulations for all that you have accomplished. It's not easy overcoming victimization.

But I disagree with you: many people bully (or otherwise abuse or inflict several forms of pain upon, etc.) other people only because they can. It's what evil is about.

Many people choose a person as a target because that person is perceived as weak, defenceless, and easy to prey upon. The abusers/rapists/murderers/bullies/add whatever modality of violence you can think of inflict pain and violence because they get sadistic pleasure from it.

Not to say that the other, more harmless kind of bully exists. There are plenty of those, too. But to deny the existence of evil is the same as denying kindness. Fortunately, we have the latter, too.

a bit of a sugar coated version of reality tbh

bullies jealous? - possibly in a few weird cases - most are just sick *beep* who ENJOY making other people suffer because its FUN - and easy targets are even more FUN - school is the survival of the fittest with weak kids lives being made hell - i wish it wasnt but you know thats the truth

and does it really just stop when school finishes? - NO - do these idiots suddenly become enlightened and cease their stupid stuff ? NO - why do you think there is bullying in the workplace?

I'm in the military, and it can actually be worse because alot of the guys I work with joined right out of highschool, so they never got to see how the real world works. Imagine working with a boat full of 30-something year olds who never outgrew highschool... Pretty much my daily life for a while.

For bullies, the school years are "the best years of [their] life," for nerds on the other hand, the best years of their life will be everything after that.

How am I "stalking"? I just said in this post that nerds win in life while jocks win only in the school years.

Truth be told, I never even saw your post when I posted; I just looked at the OP's post then posted my own theory, I only noticed you were here after you replied to me. Also, weren't you supporting the OP's position earlier? And if you do agree that some outcasts can't win in life, then you can see why the Outcasts in the film did what they had to do.

I haven't actually seen other people not be able to overcome their bullies in person as I never really had a life in middle school, but it can be argued that I let my entire family bully me around all my life because I was too weak or wanted to be too nice. My parents would often yell or even hit me when I failed to meet their expectations and my younger brother would often try to take advantage of my niceness and use it against me; it took an exceptionally long time for me to learn that being nice in the wrong conditions gets you nowhere.

The whole "bullies do it because they're jealous of you" theory really never made much sense to me. In High School, are more popular kids really going to care about how smart you are? No, not really. They might understand that you'll be more successful than them, but do they really REALLY care at that point? . . . I don't think so.

And then of course, there are kids who are being bullied when there is nothing to be jealous of. Anyone can be a victim and you seem to be looking at it as black and white - the nerds vs the popular kids. That's not so. Or would you argue that those perform poorly in school are being bullied because the bullies are jealous of something else? Not everyone has some special unique quirk that everyone wants to have.

Not everyone who is bullied will become more successful than their tormentors. What if, God forbid, those wretched people actually are intelligent? It happens, in case you didn't know that. Social status isn't relative when stereotyping that. Those beautiful and unbecoming girls from High School may not become models and actresses, and those jerk jocks might not become pro-athletes, but they could easily become your doctor. Then you also have to consider those born into a wealthy family - They might not gain anything, but they'd live in a content lifestyle.

It's good that you and your friends all became successful people. But that's not how it works for some people. Not all bullies will bully you because they're jealous, either, I'd say that rarely happens - - People are randomly attacked in schools, knocked down and shoved, when I was in middle school a group of girls plotted to lure a new student behind the school and beat her up. They didn't know her, just chose to do it. That's not jealousy - Just explainable meanness.

You are so right! About 90% of the girls who picked on me when I was a kid are all fat as hell with about 4 kids, on drugs, etc. While me on the other hand, I have been happily married for 12 years with 2 great daughters, living a great life.

It truly is ironic.

Have you seen this prick?
