Something about Dane

Okay, just hoping I aint the only one seeing this. He is clearly a cult leader, right? And the outcasts are his cult, who are all to brainwashed to get how utterly ridiculous their plan is.

I don't think they are brainwashed at all, there is nothing at all to suggest they are a cult. No, more likely the group was simply trying to find some vague attempt to justify their actions; the same way that homophobics use the bible to attack and kill homosexuals and anyone else they disagree with (not that I'm comparing the two really, IMO Dane and his gang attacked their targets as retribution for past wrongs while other religious bigots attack people because of petty differences).

All of them understood the evils they were undertaking as part of their plan, they had no delusion about it, you can hear it when Dane asks, "Where did all this evil come from?" Ultimately, as an unbiased viewer of these events, I see no actual evidence to suggest that they have formed some kind of cult; a cult requires some form of divine leader/deity/savior of whom not even Dane chose to embody.

Im gonna have to disagree with you on that. Dane did seek justification for their action through the inaction of god, but even had he not, there doesn't have to be anything overtly religious about cult behaviour, at least in so far as they dont have to adhere to any kind of faith as such, an ideology or other common belief/idea/obsession is just as servicible.

More then a religious cult as such, I think we should be talking about it as a cult of personality, with Dane at the center, who is clearly a sociopath/psychopath, bend on seeking meaning through the pain he can inflict and the control he can excert. From his attempts at controlling what his followers percieve as the truth (IE, their friend showed up at the party despite them trying to keep him away means he is fated for a night of horror, wether or not he actually be guilty of any ill-doing towards them), going so far as to kill those who go against his perception of truth.
