My Season 2 premiere idea.

As I was about to fall asleep tonight, I had a sudden flash of how Season 2 would kick off. Spengler would not off himself - he'd go rogue somehow. I'm not sure how, but to have him built up as the Big Baddie of the show (or at least the face of the Big Baddie Cabal) only to kill him off in Season 2 would not be beneficial to the show's growth.

Here's how I see it: After a week passes and Spengler has not followed through with the suicide, the cabal decides enough is enough.

Will decides to leave API, and as he is packing up his things, he is visited by Kale Ingram. I'd love to see a monologue describing how Ingram fell into the business he's in. "Do you know why I'm good at my job, Will? It's because I see it through." Maybe that helps, maybe not, but I don't think Will is long for API anymore.

Tanya turns in her resignation. Grant tries to convince her to stay but Tanya will have none of it. She kisses Grant on the cheek - not out of love, but almost as a show of apology - then walks out.

Spengler meets with Ed Roy, who is wary of being anywhere around a man marked for death. "You owe me, Ed," Spengler tells him.

"This debt's paid up," Roy says. "Today."

"Do you have it?"

Roy nods, and reaches into his coat. He pulls out a DVD - it's "Meet Me in St. Louis." He hands it over to Spengler. "I had to wait till things quieted down. It's a miracle no one broke it."

"This is what Katherine Rhumor died for?"

"This is what you had me kill her for."

Spengler nods, pockets the disc. Roy looks at him. "What will you do?"

Spengler shrugs. "I'll do what I always do. Let the chips fall where they may." He smiles, walks off. Cue Ed Roy finally saying "Sheeeeit," making The Wire fans happy.

Maggie runs into Will as he's walking out of API. They have a moment. Will leaves, Maggie looks crestfallen (she does that so well).

Meanwhile, at the League of Doom - I mean, the Cabal of Atlas-McDowell is sitting around, talking up Spengler's failure to kill himself. They discuss taking him out. One of them suggests Ed Roy, but they question Roy's loyalty. So whom do we send? Then they realize they have the perfect way to tie up all loose ends: have Travers kill Spengler, or at least be framed for it. Who would believe a murderer?

"I want some insurance that this will happen," one of the men says. "Do we send a backup?"

Long beat.

Then: "Ingram."

Cue credits.

"Look, Daddy, I'm the jealous jockey!"
"I'm a torso!"

Yeah, I don't think Spengler would off himself either. He would try to outmanoeuvre them all.

Love your S2 though not sure about Ingram being a bad guy, even though he does it so well. I like to think he's looking out for Will.

Such a shame the show was cancelled, there are still so many exciting possibilities to explore.

*sigh*
