Cancelled shows that came back

Short list off of the top of my head:

Family Guy
Damages
Futurama? (are they making new eps now?)
Star Trek? - not really, but this cancelled series spwaned a small entertainment empire
The Apprentice - Cancelled - later revamped in a celebrity version and finally brought back to its original format

You can add Friday Night Lights and Southland.

Jericho

I liked the show because it was a bit different. To bad it was cancelled.

Roswell (twice)

On top of my head: Firefly.

Didn't come back though, did it. They just summed up with a movie.

I think that wouldn't be a bad idea for Rubicon since it's very unlikely that another network will pick it up for a second season. They could give Neeson a role in the film and make it more of an action thriller... guaranteed hit.

I suppose Southland should be on this list. I like it enough to be happy for a second chance but I feel like the show has been dumbed down for the TNT audience.

I suppose. I don't disagree, but I can't imagine they'd jump on for such a slow moving feature film. Not that I'm a movie producer or anything. : D

But even a thinking mans spy movie these days needs more action that Rubicon can handle without... not being Rubicon anymore.

from day 1 i said somewhere here that this show wont last, not because its bad or slow paced but the topic its covering is too sensible for the tv/facebook generation.

even if rating was good this will not last .

Regarding the OP; Star Trek was brought back after been cancelled after two seasons following a fan letter writing campaign - the third season had a much reduced budget, and a few painful episodes like The way to Eden and Spock's Brain, and was then cancelled again.

Dozens of programs are cancelled every year, many good, many OK (and many poor!) and all of them have an IMDB thread like this one. But the fact is only two, or maybe three, shows are revived a decade.
