I concur.
Believe me, there WERE many Americans who DID like the show. There just weren't enough. Telling a good story doesn't seem to matter anymore. One of the best examples I have of what has happened in movies and TV is the difference between the old Mission Impossible TV series and the the Tom Cruise Mission Impossible Extravaganza. The TV series was about ... well... impossible situations being handled by a team of professionals. The stories DID stretch the limits of credibility sometimes, but I didn't mind. TC's MI movies to me are ONLY about TC whuppin a$$ and truly RIDICULOUS situations (helicopter in a tunnel ... jeeeesh!).
And with all the "reality" shows that permeate the airwaves, with the number of shows that seem to think that violence against females needs to be a plot device in most episodes, etc. , I'm afraid that things are only going to get worse.
One exception: "Leverage". Almost Robin Hood in the 21st century. A team that is well defined, members that are serious about their jobs, but are also amusing. Well written, but not meant for those who nitpick at details. This is just a fun show.
