Self-defense sixth sense awareness of fake cops or bad ones
Some people were discussing incidents alleging possible fake cops or possible corrupt cops on the thread, "...based on a real life incident?"
Go the the forum for the horror movie, "The Strangers" 2006, and you'll read similar hair-raising, spine-tingling, and creepy incidents of strangers coming to your door in the dead of night.
The lesson is all the same. In self defense the best defense involves situational awareness, even the so-called 'sixth sense', better known as intuition, gut-feeling, hunch, etc. Then follows avoidance or simply put, getting the heck out of there.
Several women on the thread mentioned they followed their sixth sense and refused to stop for a suspicious cop or else drove off. In either case, their fears and gut-instinct proved out correct as the 'reputed' cops didn't follow, something a legitimate cop would never allow. One poster mentioned his mom stopped for what turned out to be a fake cop. But she was very, very fortunate. She resisted and lady luck or God was on her side that night. She escaped a possible rape and or murder scenario.
The lesson is about fake cops or even corrupt, evil real ones. If a police officer in a car has to stop a suspect at night, there is NO way he would turn off his headlights and flashers. This is for as much the police officer's own safety and as to illuminate the suspect sitting in the car ahead. Anything can happen. The driver can pull a weapon or become confrontational. In any event all the illumination is the officer's ally. As for the other incident where the pursuing unmarked car with a police flashing light and held FOUR men inside, the female driver followed her gut instincts and kept driving. The car later pulled off the freeway. She was spot on that one. No police car has more than two officers in it at any given time. True there are special exceptions, but just that, rare. It was a bunch of yahoos trying to pull over a pretty woman driving all alone.
The civilian authorities are aware and just as afraid of fake cops and corrupt cops, but for obvious legal reasons, will almost never talk about it nor warn the population otherwise a can of legal worms opens up. Suspects will drive off or refuse to pull over, claiming they felt it was a fake cop.
It's more dangerous of course, for the lone woman in the car than a guy. All the incidents in the thread came from women. I guess it could happen to a guy but if it does, the fake cop or the corrupt one almost certainly has violence in mind for the intended victim.
The fake cop or the evil corrupt real cop rank among the greatest urban legend fears of people. No one wants to get into trouble with the law if they're a law-abiding citizen. But the same law-abiding citizen fears his that his own civil respect may be his/her own undoing at the cost of a rape, mugging, or loss of his/her own life.
