Inspired by true events... Bahahahaha!

As a native Houstonian who has volunteered with TES (the organization founded by one of the REAL victims fathers), I was excited to see this. Firstly, it was a horrendous movie, regardless of what it was supposedly based on. The plot, or lacktherof, was a major issue as it never went anywhere, was slow as molasses, half the movie never makes sense or seems to have no purpose at all. The characters are all so shallow, you are never made to feel anything at all for any of them. The detectives are stereotypical women/men with a serious grudge, not to mention anger management issues as all of them, at some point or another, violently assault the potential witnesses. The setting of the film made it seem as if none of the filmakers have ever even been to the Houston area, much less the state of Texas. As for the statement that this was based on True events, what a load of crap!! The only thing remotely true about this film was that it is true there were a few murders where the bodies were found in a field south of Houston, which then received the nickname "The Killing Fields." Everything else that happened in the movie was all pure fiction. It's a shame because if they would have tried to actually make a movie about these murders, using the truth about the victims and their the families it would have made a great, interesting film. Instead, they apparently thought "the killing fields" sounded like a good title so they made up a crappy storyline that was load of rubbish and slap a "inspired by true events" label on it and called it a day.
