2/3 of a movie

This is 2/3 of a movie, if that much.
The scenery, the actors, the direction is all good. You really feel the damp hole of a place they are stuck in.
It's just sad that they didn't bother to try to stich together a story. They don't even do much to set up the Killing Fields as the hell it's supposed to be.
Tough cops of the edge of loosing it fears that green swamp?? Why??? If they fear a serial killer, then try to catch him.

I fell for the ad that marketed this as a Seven/Zodiac kind of movie. I kick myself for that. The story of the crimes on the big poster could have been worth a movie. And that movie might have honored the kings of the genre.
Did the cops really think that the pusher pimps killed the people in the swamp?

The Mann-family project should have had a script. This mess is a sack of pretty good and pretty bad ideas all mixed up.

i think it had lots of potential. lots. but they dropped the ball in so many places, it's crazy

mann doesn't care about us anymore. his mind must be on buying a yaht or sommthing, rackin up more cash with each movie, regardless if it's good or not. his goal is different now, it's not about good stories like it once was. he is a sell out, and has been since Ali. for me the last good michael mann film was the insider. everything he made after that has been junk. some people like miami vice and public enemy, but i don't know how. oh, and collateral blows. it was beautiful, but that's it. very stupid story.

thing is, if he had done this way 30 years ago, he never woulda become michael mann in the first place

i hate that he sold out

i think this movie coulda been very good. too bad they did what they did to it
