I'm just glad this wasn't a predictable by the books movie
I liked the name to this movie and the fact that Jeffrey Dean Morgan was in it, so it was an instant watch for me.
I was almost scared off by the low rating, the poor Metacritic score and the abysmal Tomato meter. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this film as it showed all the care and attention to detail that you might find from a Michael Mann flick -- lo and behold it was his daughter behind the camera. Good deal.
I thought the script was tight and the "loose end" was a clever twist to most movies. I liked that this wasn't a "clean" cops and criminals film and it wasn't a predictable by-the-books procedural.
If this was an episode of Law & Order critics would be raving over it (sort of like they did with the show The Killing) but in the form of a movie you have all sorts of prissy types taking a good p!$$ing all over it.
Anyway, this was a fine film and anyone not looking for the standard-fare stuff you can see coming from a mile off might like this movie, too.
