Not even close to the inspiring real events

I can not get over how poorly this movie was done. I grew up about 5 minutes down the road from the real killing fields and they look nothing like these overdone swamp lands that this movie portrays. Actually nothing in the movie is closely related to real story other than several bodies being found. I had high hopes as the real events that happened are intriguing. It's as if the writers/producers didn't even try to get an idea about the real story. So disappointing.

I agree. I'm not from the area but I've read up on it. I think the movie was brilliant but because it was supposed to be based on real events that it really missed an opportunity to be even more.

This movie was "inspired by a true story" not "based on a true story". There's actually a big difference between the two. When it's "inspired", the real story just gave them an idea for their own movie, while "based on" is when it's a movie about the real story.

Thank you, you are smart, 2 different things, people are dumb and don't get it.

Does anyone know if any part of this film was actually shot on-location in the Texas "Killing Fields"?

Also, I completely agree that this film dropped the ball when you consider the historical context behind the Killing Fields. This is a film that should've been done in the same mold as 'The Snowtown Murders'; relentlessly dark & grim--no Hollywoodization whatsoever.

No, and I just saw a film called The Hobbit and they didn't film any of that in Middle Earth. Rip off.

What's REALLY outrages is Lost in Space was actually filmed here, on earth!!

I watched a good documentary on the actual case/s and this movie has nothing to do with it. Yes it was "inspired" by the actual case, but why call it the Texas Killing Fields when the real TKF case is totally different? It was a waste of time. And hard to really follow. Oh well, 1 star out of ten for me.
