The PG13 MORONS were wrong........Should have been R RATED like DEADPOOL

WE TOLD YOU IT NEEDED TO BE R RATED, YOU DIDN'T LISTEN......

"Who stole the soul of Suicide Squad? I'd say it's Ayer's willingness to go all limp-dick and compromise his hardcore action bona fides for a PG-13 crowdpleaser that would rather ingratiate than cut deep, or even cut at all." - Pete Travers Rollingstone

The movie is a wasted opportunity, Ayer's vision was ruined by the greedy studio by forcing him to make a PG13 SS. Big fail.

Why did they take a dude who's only directed R rated movies and have him do a PG13?? FAIL.

I don't know if bloody head explosions would have somehow saved us from

- the horrible portrayal of joker, harley, deadshot and the pointless other characters
- the story making no sense
- the editing being poor
- the lack of any worthwhile action scenes
- the villain and her stupid "machine"
- the climax of "throwing a bomb in it"

If this movie was R-Rated, the problems you have list will never exist.

Honestly, making Suicide Squad an R-rated film without fixing its basic script and story problems would have just made it a bad R-rated film, and it would have likely made less money because R-rated films (Deadpool notwithstanding) generally have smaller potential audiences.

Vinni, i agree. Suicide Squad would have been WAY better had it been rated R.

The reason why it wasn't was the tepid reaction to Batman V Superman. They weren't playing it safe. They were trying to lure in audiences and convince them that the DCEU was worth sticking with. They freaked out and dropped the ball. That's it. Trouble is, with SS's success, the next one will be the same.

Maybe we can hold out hope for a Deathstroke movie. Done right (and hard R) that could kick your ass!

But now i think an R rated Suicide Squad movie is a fantasy. It's the only hit DC has, they're not going to go off formula.

But you are right.

Not in the DCEU. Not in a theatre cut.

Not long ago i'd have said the same thing about Deadpool. If there's anyone in the DCU crying out for an R rated movie, it's Deathstroke. It could work. Not saying it'll actually happen, but it could work.

Deadpool is different. He is able to exist in a movie universe and reference the fact that he is in a movie universe - that would have given the X-franchise the easy out of "he's not really a part of the franchise", if the movie hadn't worked. And the R-rating could work for exactly the same reason. They still don't have to openly acknowledge Deadpool existing in the same movie universe, if they don't want to.

Deathstroke doesn't have the ironic self-awareness to pull something like that off, meaning that cohesion will take precedence - and the DCEU is first and foremost a PG-13 franchise.
