BvS didn't deserve all that hate, Suicide Squad however....

So before anyone tries slaughtering on me, keep your knickers on, remember it's all opinions, I'm not saying my word is gospel or objective and bear in mind I mildly liked Suicide Squad but I feel it was a very mediocre movie.

Suicide Squad wasn’t great and I'm not gonna say that critics reception and fan backlash was unwarranted, the hate is very understandable. The film has a poor story, bad editing, lackluster action sequences, silly moments and one laughably bad villain from Cara Delevingne, this was a very disappointing film.
That being said there was some redeeming qualities, I think the bulk of the performances were brilliant, particularly Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Viola Davis and Jay Hernandez. I also enjoyed the little bits with Batman. The soundtrack, the music was great but the way it was cut in the film was not so good. So seeing the hate it received was understandable as it was quite a poorly made film and while I believe that WB did botch it cos of BvS' reception. It's unfortunate as it's very clear that under the surface, there's a great film there.

Now onto BvS, which I consider one of the best films made this year (The Ultimate Cut). Did this movie have problems? Yes but to me they were ones that could be easily overlooked, i.e. plot inconsistencies, too attention to subplots. So what did I get from the much reviled Batman v Superman? I got a post-modern and philosophically rich epic which took the huge risk of deconstructing and developing two beloved characters, pitting them against each other and allowing them to return to their true forms by the end of the movie. All the while, I received an understandable and great story, amazing action sequences, an awesome Score by Zimmer/Holkenborg, fine performances (yes, I liked Eisenberg as Lex) and a villain who had motivation (yes, I liked Eisenberg as Lex). Now you might not agree with me, which is absolutely fine but this is how I feel.

The critical and fan reception for BvS and Suicide Squad were pretty much the same in terms of numbers. For me these were two very different films and BvS was FAR superior, coherent and enjoyable. That being said, with Suicide Squad, I think that the performances and set up in the first 20 mins were redeeming qualities in a mediocre film and that's probably the reason I'm hovering around a 6.5-7/10 for it, I did enjoy it but the hate was understandable. BvS is a 9/10 for me, has it's flaws but is overall a very good movie.

SS shot itself in the head, the reason I skipped it is because it went the "think of the children" route that we're ALL sick of at this point when it should've been dark, gritty, serious, bloody as hell, gruesome as hell, no holds barred, and mean spirited, it did the source material and story a HUGE disservice and it's a VERY messed up story at that. i lost a lot of respect for David Ayer after he let the studio asshats push him around and lock him out of the editing room and butcher it, and Jared Leto had the same thought as well, he was on our side. i heard David Ayer was gonna fight to make the sequel Rated R, darker, grittier, and A LOT MORE VIOLENT, if he does that, then myself and several other people will check out SS 2, if not, then I'm skipping that one too. I'm sick and tired of having R Rated material SEVERELY toned down and butchered and taken away from us on the big screen just for the sake of greed, it's beyond annoying and it's irritating. anyway, rant over, it had potential to be a disturbing movie, but nope, it committed suicide

Amen! I agree with you brother!

I will say this though! Suicide Squad does not deserves as much hate as Warner Bros. who are responsible for the final version. I only wish more people knew the behind the scenes stuff that we know. Not to forgive teh final movie but REALLY TELL Warner Bros. to stop their fvckery!

I really believe 100% that original version...with more, I hate using that word, "edgy" stuff, more character scenes, more violence, less forced music and original 3rd act(that was re-shot because WB wanted it differently)...would be something to really celebrate!

Sure some flaws remain...like you said the actions scenes...Ayer next time please hire Zack or someone else to do them really lame unfortunately!
Margot made this movie for me! In the end there is more good than bad in it for me!

BvS UC I gave it 8/10. Beautiful stylish epic movie!
Yes I agree some stuff should have been left out completely but hey this is what we have and I love it!

I hope Zack will get better with his storytelling with Justice League and delivers nice epic superhero teamwork story!
