Joker/Harley Relationship Reversal

I've read about the deleted 'abuse' scenes between them. Now, having grown up on Batman: TAS and, more recently, the Arkham games (plus the animated movie, which this film was very similar to), I know how their relationship has been portrayed in the past.

But thankfully, at least for the theatrical cut, this film took a different approach. It's not exactly all lovey-dovey - he does electrocute her, do next to nothing while she's assaulted, nearly let her drown in a vat of unknown chemicals... - but it's much more, hrm, tamer? than before. As in, Joker appears obsessed with her. She's still one of 'his toys', albeit one he created.

But I digress. Point I'm trying to get at is, what if the films try this 'softer abuse' approach to their relationship? Do we really need to see Harley Quinn, the standout character for sure, get physically abused yet again?

While part of me wants to see Harley kick Mister J to the curb and get with Deadshot (c'mon, they had such chemistry...), I also like the idea of getting to see more of 'The King & Queen of Gotham' be psychotic together.
