Civil War has -38.4% drop in week 8 while SS had only -33.9%

That means SS has better legs than your precious certified maxi fresh marvel movie. Its called prawnage my salty fan boys.

And it was released in China, so take away 200 million and you get 952 million and add 100 million to SS and you get 832 million. That makes SS only 120 million behind the biggest marvel movie this year.

So, remove China from CW and add China to SS?

This is getting more ridiculous every day. 

Thats just how it works.

Stultus est sicut stultus facit.

reply

Oh. So it's not enough to remove the Chinese box office from one movie, you also have to add a hypothetical Chinese box office to the other movie, and then it becomes fair?

That's an... interesting idea... 

Quidquid Latinae dictum sit, altum viditur.

reply

AND THEN IT STILL LOSES. By a lot. And SS would have flopped in China. Lucky for the fan-tards it wasn't released there, so they can imagine all the vast riches it would have amassed there (that would have mainly stayed in China, anyway).

reply

Wow, you like people calling you idiot.

Idiot.

FROM:"Save me Batman, please, save me" WB and MOS TO:"Save me Product Placement, save me" WB and BvS

reply

HA HA HA! The excuses you dumbasses make. Superman and Batman are DC's top two Superheroes. Your own argument hits DC even harder than it does Marvel. Marvel's Characters are C-List compared to Superman (78 years old, first Superhero ever) or Batman (76 years old, and huge box office draw) LOST to Civil War.

If it loses to Suicide Squad too... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!

Steve Rogers / Captain America = 5 movies

Tony Stark / Iron Man = 6 movies

Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow = 5 movies

Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier = 3 movies

Lieutenant James Rhodes / War Machine = 4 movies

Clint Barton / Hawkeye = 3 movies

Vision = 2 movies

Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch = 2 movies

Scott Lang / Ant-Man = 2 movies

Peter Parker / Spider-Man = 6 movies

Bruce Banner / Hulk = 4 movies

Thor = 4 movies

Current modern CBM to date:

C-list characters wouldn't be in this many movies.

reply

Batman = 7 movies pre-DCEU, a Campy TV show, award winning cartoons since the early 90's, major hero to millions, Second Superhero ever.

Superman = 5 movies pre DCEU (that you know of, i'm an expert on the character, in reality there are seven Superman movies, i'll leave it up to you, die hard DC fan, to find the other two whilst i giggle) Pop culture phenomenon, american icon.

Those facts beat all your motherf$@king bullsh!t.

The point I was trying to make is that some people say the characters above are C-list and below. If they really were then why are they in so many movies? I didn't include the Infinity War movies as that would push it up even more. There is going to be like 20 plus characters in the Infinity War which is just nutz! Iron Man and Captain America might not have been equal to Batman and Superman in the 50's but since post 2010 or earlier they are now.

The facts above are facts and have been deemed factual facts.

reply

I wouldn't say they are on Batman and Superman's level but they are close.

reply

Literally one of the dumbest posts ever. Deduct enough money from this movie for no good reason and add a ton of money to this movie for no good reason so my garbage movie makes the same amount. Are you fanatics even thinking before you post anymore??? You're giving DC and CBM movie fans horrible representations when you post ludicrously stupid things like that.

reply

[deleted]

How? Please elaborate. Captain America made 400 million dollars more. It's WB's fault the film wasn't released in China, they are well aware of how China censors and could have made the movie to cater to that market if they wanted to guarantee a release. Even if you want to deduct China from Captain's totals to remove that market you do not magically add a hypothetical China total to SS. That is just dumb

reply

Disney had to remove Finn from the Star Wars poster because apparently the Chinese do not like black people. We shouldn't have to bow to every whim of the Chinese just for the sake of money. I am glad Deadpool and SS didn't sell out.

Its not dumb its just hypothetical.

Wow. The dumb is practically solid.

Oh, SS sold out - they changed the name to "Special Task Force X", because the word "Suicide" would be a deal-breaker.

SS just wasn't good enough to be one of the 34 movies that China imports every year.

That sounds completely made up.

The Hollywood Reporter.

Not surprisingly, Warner Bros. tweaked Suicide Squad's local-language title. In Chinese, it's "X特遣队," which translates to "Special Task Force X" (X marks the suicide, it would seem).

I see numbers like these thrown around a lot but a quick count of even this year will show that the truth is much higher.

reply

That is the official quota. They have leeway to increase that, apparently, but if they did it this year, it's not exactly flattering to SS.

Quidquid Latinae dictum sit, altum viditur.

reply

SS sold out as soon as they took final edit away from Ayer, pulled the alleged darker Joker scenes and added pop music to it every 5 minutes because they were no catering to general audiences, hence its high box office.

reply

Tbh I'm glad they didn't sell out either. China's rules are a bit annoying and I wish more movies wouldn't now to their wishes, but whose going to say no to an extra 50 million guarnteed just to take out a bit of magical elements.

reply

[deleted]

CW was a better movie not because it made more bug because everything the film was better. Also if you subtract its China total it still made over 200 million more. You would NOT subtract it's China total and add a hypothetical total to SS at the same time. That is DUMB! Also no DC movie including from the Nolan trilogy has been a breakout hit in China. Even BVS only did 95 million. These are all facts. So we have a highly educated guess what SS could have done.

reply

[deleted]

Yes it is all just hypothesysing but the way the OP went about it is ridiculous and goes against intelligent reasoning.

reply

Very true. The thing is, it built up to the point where making a billion is easy now when basically adding the Avengers to CW. That's just part of why it made that much.

reply

Please look at the improvement from Cap 1 to Winter Soldier to Civil War. The series was growing huge between installments and Winter Soldier was a loved movie. Yes adding the others into Civil War helped but it would have been a huge BO anyway as a follow up to winter soldier and you can't do the Civil War story obviously without all the characters.

reply

[deleted]

I think it was a step back but only because WS was so good and accomplished being a great film in multiple genres. I think CW was a slight step back, but only because the story had to be so big where as WS was contained to the Hydra and a bit more focused.

reply

Suicide Squad had a record opening and near record 69% drop.

Margot may have nice legs but this film certainly does not.

I know folks are drinking heavily because this film is bad but now is time to put this dead film behind you.

Can't beat Civil War's 1.1 BILLION DOLLAR box office, what the point?

reply

SS had a stronger multiplier than Civil War. Deadpool was the only one it didn't beat.

reply

You again?!

Civil War= Worldwide: $1,152,765,346

reply

Yep. Deal with it. 😂

That's the same as me liking TDK more than TDKR.

It's the same series and the RT scores define each film in this case well.

I don't see why people are bringing up Suicide Squads box office, when it's RT score and general audience reception is bad.

reply

Reception was above average and WOM wasn't toxic, at all. Late legs show this.

reply

26%RT says hello. Variety.com trashed this film and so did many other major critics.

It will be lucky to avoid a razzie award at the point.

reply

It had no competition for 3 to 4 weeks. There was no other options for people but to see this. GOTG had to deal with TMNT which turned into a 500 million + hit. Please do research before blurting out garbage. Civil War after two weeks has to deal with Angry Birds, then X-Men, then Dory, then the summer movie onslaught. Learn how the box office works and then comment.

reply

dude, please just give it up, stop making yourself look stupid, face the facts, this movie was crap, it didn't beat GOTG and it was annihilated by civil war, you lose

reply

Civil War had more people watching it, right?
