michelle trachtenberg should have had more film time
she's the real star of the movie
shareI would pay good money to see a movie that was nothing but Michele Trachtenberg OR Rashida Jones peeling vegetables.
If not for the extreme combined force of both Cop Out would have made me vomit then riot.
They're both very lovely and the one who played the mother was also a good looker
she was on L&W SVU recently.
Nice to see the "My name is Earl" guy all cleaned up.

That's Jason Lee of course, he's in a bunch of Kevin Smith films.

Did you even WATCH the movie? She was NOT "the star" of the flick. She wasn't even close. Not even a supporting actress. You must have this confused with another movie. She doesn't have much of a part in the movie. She is not, nor was she meant to be, a major player.
Besides, MT has got to be one of the worst actresses our generation has yet to provide. This girl has no range, her acting is comporable to that of a stick. A stick that has a high squeaky whiney voice.
She's attractive, but man, I can only take so much of her and she grates on my nerves. That voice of hers is like nails on a chalkboard, and her acting is one dimensional. Never saw a single movie with her in it where she brought a single goddamn thing to the production. She can be easily replaced. No special qualities in her.

Agreed. She looked very, very pretty when she wore that wedding dress at the ending. Her pale look matched the white dress perfectly. Damn, she's so beautiful!

You sincerely believe that simply because I dislike a particular actress that you are fond of, that it automatically must mean I'm jealous (of what?) or a hater (I don't hate her, I don't even know her). What specifically is it that you would like me to "get over" to satisfy you?
To back up my own personal critiques of her performances, I clarify again I have seen her in several different roles. I will admit that I have not seen every movie she's ever been in, but I have certainly seen a handful across the years.
You make a very valid point that in situations where you, and other posters here, have a pre-existing likeness for a particular actor or actress, and they don't get much screen time, and especially depending on how the movies are advertised, the audience has certain expectations going in. And if those expectations are not met, and if that particular actor doesn't get an amount of screen time that is either implied in the coming attractions, or simply doesn't get enough screen time for those of her fans who would like to, and were hoping to, see more of her than they did. That is very disappointing.
Keeping in mind that merely "wanting" a quasi-supporting actress to have had a larger part in a movie than she did, does not qualify her as a "star" or a "major player." I understand the feeling when an actor I'm quite fond of who I think is excellent isn't given much more than a bit part in a movie, it's quite frustrating, especially when you, yourself, can see so many ways they could have fleshed out their character to add more screen time. I really DO understand that.
I believe you are also correct as you point out we all have our own opinions...and neither of our's invalidates the others. It just is what it is. So concluding, my choice to compare her acting abilities to that of a stick,...stays. In everything I've seen her in, she is type-cast. Attempts to place her against type backfire horrendously because the "MT School of Acting" comes to the surface in every role she takes on.
I'm hoping it is just her immaturity, youth, and lack of professional experience that have been drawing me consistently to this assessment of her "acting" all these years. Maybe she's yet to grow into her own and hasn't quite stretched those wings yet. I really don't know. I've seen actors change and completely blow me away after years of thinking they were stiff. So far to date, every single thing I've seen this girl in, she acts the same, she has a voice that I find grating (perhaps a vocal coach could help bring out a calmer side or a more vixen side,...not just the whiney teenager type).
So you see, I do not hate her, (I've only used that word once in my life when referencing a real person, so I do not toss it around lightly), and I am not jealous of her (Perhaps because I have yet to see her display any acting qualities I find that appealing,...and if I did, to clarify, I would be envious, not jealous).
Good post, though, and thank you for putting so much thought into the debate. It makes imdb "fun again!" :)

You sincerely believe in any way I would be "happy" to learn of smoking's effect on the voice?
Quite simply put, I find her irritating and difficult to watch. She grates on my nerves, in particular, I dislike her voice, and I find her acting to be wooden. All of those are sufficient so-called "valid" reasons. I'm not sure what you find difficult. One simply does not compare, let's say, MT and Vanessa Redgrave now. It's really just that simple.

Next time, if you dislike someone or something without any VALID explanation or reason BASED on evidence, at least try to keep it to yourself. I've disliked some certain actresses and actors FOR no reason at all. However I don't speak or go on their boards to say something about them. That's just ridiculous.
She's cool.
I don't win a lot.
