I don't get it. But people tend to think that a zombie apocalypse is inevitable!
So here's your chance to turn me onto something I find boring cheap and easy: What's so special about zombies>???????
For me I just think it's fun to watch, it's just entertaining to watch and in some it shows that even after the world goes down hill, people can still help each other. I personally am in love with the walking dead so I like zombies and for them to add zombies into pride and prejudice I just live it. I haven't seen the original pride and prejudice but I feel like it wouldn't be as exciting with zombies....I feel that the zombies bring it together. But that is just my opinion, not everyone likes zombies

I agree there are too many (crappy) zombie flicks but some are fun (like 28 Days Later or Zombieland but they're sorta old -- WWZ was sorta interesting but a tad long & I liked Scouts Guide [for the most part] but think it's another one many zombie fans disliked). PP&Z is fun because it's an (definitely odd) adaptation of one of the most famous novels in English lit and successful in that regard. Clueless is the last Austen reworking I remember liking...

First things first - attraction for zombie flicks is one thing, thinking of the actual probability of a zombie apocalypse is a completely different story.

I am rather bemused that the question pops up on this board so often. We've been enjoying zombie flicks for many decades, by now it should feel as natural as the attraction for boobs, six-packs and firm bottoms, movie nights with popcorn and complaining about death and taxes.

Thinking about it now, I think that the traditional manner in which zombie stories are told contributes to the love. There's nothing inherently funny about zombies, they can be the subject of very heart-wrenching stories, as seen in Maggie (2015). But it's not how zombie stories are usually told. Yes one can find sad "omg I have to shoot my loving wife" moments, but the typical overall tone is relatively uplifting, adventure-ish, pure escapism from the troubles and responsibilities of our daily lives (...plus a lot of gore). Just like the tone of the vampire movie being typically erotic, like the stories about serial killers being thrilling and the end of the world (nuclear war or other such) being usually narrated in very dramatic terms.
