missed opportunities that would have made a world of a difference

I would like to know what you all think of my idea...

For all that have seen the movie: It is explained that several characters are in fact one character and that the killing of the characters is just the "doctor's treatment" kicking in eliminating all the excess characters.

So far, so good..

After the film one starts to think how other scenes in the movie add up to the explaination given. If you take SIXTH SENSE or THE OTHERS for example then all of the scenes before made sense.

But THE WARD doesn't deliver on that scale. But it could have with some simple editing.

The best example of this are the scenes where the doctor treats Iris.

How it was:
The metronom clicking and the hypnotizing voice of the doctor make her fall asleep and the next scenes are the doctor telling the male nurse that she is sleeping in the next room. The nurse goes in but she seems to have escaped because she seems to have vanished from the room. The next scenes are Iris getting pushed in a wheel-chair by Demon-Alice and then getting killed.

Problem in that scene:
Why show that Iris escaped from the room? Why try to create the impression that Demon-Alice snatched her when you see Iris getting killed by Demon-Alice in the next scenes? Why not create another impression altogether ... why not imply that the staff could be involved thus creating another "red hering" which would make the story at the end seem much more richer than it was.

... let's look at how that could have been achieved :-)

How it should have been:
The metronom clicking and the hypnotizing voice of the doctor make her fall asleep and the next scenes are the doctor telling the male nurse that she is sleeping in the next room. The male nurse leaves the picture seemingly going to get her. The next scenes are Iris getting pushed in a wheel-chair by Demon-Alice and then getting killed.

Why would that have been better?
The reason I am writing this is: They had a perfect opportunity to create suspense and mystery (is the staff involved or not?) and at the same time it would have all made sense at the end because the killing of Iris followed the treatment of the doctor. The end would show that Iris wasn't sleeping in the next room and that there was no cover-up because it was Alice sleeping in the other room. The jump cut to Iris being killed-off would then also make sense because the doctor's treatment caused that character to die.

Interesting.
