This has been done before in Identity. *spoilers ahead*

essentially the twist was the same as the twist in Identity. Not to mention pretty much ANY horror movie ever that is set in a psychiatry ward.
Gothika, Mad House, Shutter Island... seriously. How tired IS this twist? Come up with something new people! God!

I think identity was a much better version of this twist, i thought they totally ripped it off but badly.. Stupid ghost element (i usually like ghosts things, well, there arent many good ones imo..) Generally bad acting.. the only bit i liked was the few seconds inthe dumb waiter! Just got sick of ooo there's the ghost, oo there it is again.. At least in Identity its a good thriller beforehand..

There are no original stories; just original variations of the same story.

How was this movie like "Gothika"? The asylum really was haunted in that movie.

I actually liked this movie better than "Shutter Island."

Wish you were the one that got away...

bite_me, you do realize that the heading already spoils it for alot of people? why write "spoilers ahead" anyway?

Maybe some of us like that twist.

It worked well for me in this one because I thought I was being set up for either "mental hospital run be evil people" or "haunted mental hospital" or a combination of both.

Without knowing the twist at the time, the staff's indifference toward Kristen's reasonable questions about why people were disappearing was very sinister. Even if they had said "she's no longer in this hospital, but we can't discuss another patient's case without their permission" or something like that it would have seemed halfway reasonable.

The fact that this particular ward was very small (but in a huge hospital) but they never replaced the missing patients seemed odd, too. It had me thinking that maybe some sort of expreiment was going on. Maybe the drugs they were given were causing an altered state of consciousness which caused a greater openness to the spirit world. Maybe the staff knew they had killed the other girl and was letting the ghost get her revenge. Until the last ten minutes there were several directions it could have gone.

I love Identity.

True, but it was pulled off a lot better than in Identity, which has to rank as one of the worst 'twists' in movies ever.
