Seriously, some people in here... I've read several threads now where people complain about the girls in the ward calling them unrealistic because they "wore false eyelashes", because "they were all white (no blacks and asian chicks)" or they were "all hotties"!?

Are you guys just as insane as Alice in this film??? Did you totally forget that THE GIRLS WERE ALL PART OF HER SPLIT PERSONALITY!?

How can you call their appearance unrealistic when they were all inside the head of a nutcase?! You should just be glad she didn't imagine a ward filled with the Looney Tunes!

Do you also complain that the alien in THE THING wasn't believable because it didn't look like E.T., bitch about the evil car CHRISTINE surviving a fire, or moan about THE FOG not acting like real fog while totally ignoring the pirate zombies it was hiding?

I assumed she was in there with others, she just choose to ignore them and live in her head with her split personalitys?

Yes that is true there were a lot of others around her, but she was only seeing and experiencing her alters.

Actually the film addresses this, at the end of the movie while the Dr. is informing her of who she really is there is a scene of Alice standing in the common room holding her teddy and staring off into space, if you pay close attention in the background there are other patients. The intentions are that we are seeing just what Alice sees and in this case she is oblivious to everything around her with the exception of her alter egos.

You're right, people are idiots and they have no taste. This movie was damn good! and too intelligent for them, clearly.

No, because apparantly the Thing is the best movie ever made on the entire planet.

Even with them all in her head, it makes no sense at all that they all look like models from the 90's. Plus, there is one girl who IS real, and she didn't look any different. So wardrobe and makeup were still pretty unrealistic.

The Thing adopting the form of E.T. would have been real funny!

HEEEEEEYYYYYY...There's an idea for Hollywood to explore!! They could do a remake of E.T., only this time it would be a horror film, with E.T. possessing all the abilities of The Thing. It would slowly (and bloodily) assimilate some of Elliot's family, his friends, and some of the townspeople. Then it would go after him, and Elliot would have to try to survive and escape, not knowing who to trust. Just imagine, him taking his little sister with him, only for her face to split into four flaps, with a hideous skull-maw snapping at him.
