I expected either a bug, or i thought this movie had some kind of gimmick that attracted crazy traffic. ie on the news or something

I get an email solicitation once every few weeks asking me to pay money for my imdb page starometer to rise. I imagine that the promoters of this film have taken advantage of that business to a degree previously unimaginable. It did bring me to this page but it has not made me interested in the slightest in seeing the movie.

It's crazy how the interest for this jumped so high. And almost everyone here never heard of it. :)
shareI honestly think it might be some sort of marketing ploy. The studio/producers paid IMDb to put those numbers so people will say, "Oh man, 1500%? This must be a really interesting movie!!!!"

The movie only recently opened in theatres in US. So maybe the people there started visiting the page more often. Having such a high percentage increase doesnt mean its got more hits than major movies like Dark Knight Rises or Avengers. Its just an increase from the previous visits. So if it had one visit last week this week it has 14657 and thats proportionate to the number of visits it actually had last week.
