Why did Ned's father ignore him?

Even though Ned's father cheat on his mother with the babysitter, but why is that he acted like his son didn't exist and paid more attention to his new life.

Cause he was an *beep* don't think there was more to it than that really.

Dads often act like that when they have a kid they weren't ready for...then get divorced & have a second chance later on when they're more mellowed out. The new kid is the apple of their eye.

He was just a rude dad. It's pretty disturbing how many fathers are out there like that... But it's not uncommon. The guy was a complete jerk, and like the other poster said, there isn't much more to it than that.

I'm glad that Ned ignored his dad's call at the end.
It was nice to see the kid ignore his father for once instead of the usual scenario of the dad ignoring his son.

First of all, his name was Noah lol. Secondly, it's easier for him to only focus on his newer life because he's one of the people in the world that instead of confronting and trying to solve conflict, thinks it's better to just brush it off and ignore it.

I mean if Noah was your kid would you pay him any attention... also he's a dick

You know, when he told Noah that it wasn't his problem in that very meaningful way I totally expected him to say that Noah wasn't his kid and that his mother had cheated on him first.
That might have added an interesting element - not all dads are cheating douchebags who are cruel to their beautiful and innocent wives - but I guess that was too much to ask from this film.

"They who... give up... liberty to obtain... safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

What bugged me most was this douchbag didn't even pay child support (or Alimony for that matter)! And he certainly HAD enough given his car. Things like that drive me NUTS. My cousin is going through something similar with her douchebag soon-to-be-ex that refuses to pay child support any which way he can duck it despite living QUITE nice! Deadbeat dads are the worst...20x worse when they actually have MONEY!!!!

He had moved on - with the babysitter. But the point of that scene was to show how little he thought of Noah. He had a younger wife, a less-disappointing son (not that it mattered). The old family was an inconvenience, to be tossed aside. Add that he had money, and never paid support, and you get to see Noah kicked in the nuts, once again.
Many kids have dads that vanish. And as adults, they find they have step-siblings they never knew about. How sad.
