Freddie was pretty beautiful and charismatic for me.
I don't see absolute psycho in his character. There are good things and bad. He just didn't know how to control the bad things and they were killing good ones. The same thing has happened with his sons.
Maybe it's terrible, but I am completely on his side and I'm a little bit sorry that Jimmy and Maggie are happy. Because i absolutely don't like them. I don't like the Freddy's hysterical wife too. All those people were thinking only about their own interests. I'm sure Freddie could be a good husband and a good friend, a good father and a good son, but there wasn't a single person for whom he could do it. Not one. Only this small wonderful boy, the son of Maggie. Little Jimmy could pull Freddy out of the abyss. But Freddie had to protect him from little Freddy.
Rather, he had to protect him from himself.
I agree that I idealize Freddie. But this is proof that Tom Hardy's incredibly charismatic as Freddie, isn't it?

So basically Freddie had a problem with self control?
At the Ecstacy deal in the first episode,I kinda got the impression that he wasn't happy with what was going on.Almost as if he was AGAINST the distribution of illegal drugs.
I wasn't really into ANY of the women in this show.Jackie was a sour and very unpleasant person.I didn't think Maggie was very attractive.She SEEMED like a decent person,but she wasn't against any of the illegal activities that Jimmy was involved with.
At LEAST Jackie complained about Freddie using cocaine!!!
That showed me that she wasn't happy with what he was doing with his life and that she wanted better for him.
I DO wonder whatever became of Lil' Freddie.

I don't blame Jackie and Maggie. I understand their motives. Men want to live by the rules but women want to be happy, and everyone fights as they can.
I also wonder what happened with little Freddie. It would be nice if they would made The Take 2 where grown up little Freddy would met with Maggie and Jimmy's son(or daughter). It would be super if Tom Hardy will play grown up Freddy. But I'm not sure that he'll like this idea :)

I blame the writers.They are the ones who wrote this garbage.As for Lil' Freddy,he would have eventually grown up.
He might even try to make up for his father's sins and try to become a better person.

Martina Cole wrote a novel in 2005, but the action takes place in 1986-1992. Retro story give more freedom to write about the cruel things I reckon

But gangsters were a LOT more violent than they are portrayed here.What Freddie did at the Ecstacy deal would have incited a war between Ozzie and the Turkish drug dealers.And I figure the Turkish drug dealers would have won!!!

Are you serious? He was physically repulsive and destroyed anything that angered him. He's one of the most revolting and hateful characters I've ever seen.

Yeah but he's a common lowlife who has just angered Turkish Drug Dealers.He should have been shot the minute he pulled out that gun or have been assasinated the next day.
That's the ONLY way to improve this story.The quality of this story would improve if Freddie had been killed.Then we would get to see how the aftermath of his death affects everybody else.Maggie would have been happy,but she would have to hide it and console her sister.
Ozzie would have to find a replacement,and it would be somebody who IS handsome and charismatic and better at the job than Freddie.
Then of course they would have to deal with the Turkish druge dealers.Since they only really had a beef with Freddie,they probably wouldn't have targeted anybody else.
Ozzie would have had to sit down and apologize to them and explain that he was in no way responsible for Freddie's actions.
