Freddie didn't know that he was dead the whole time(Lost inspired)

Freddie didn't know that he was dead the whole time.He would have been shot dead at the ecstasy deal,we all know that.

So the only logical explanation is that he is dead,and unable to let go.So he is stuck in some sort of Purgatory world where he can deal with all his issues.

Like raping Maggie.He always wanted her in life,and by raping her in Purgatory he was able to let that issue go.

And by pushing the black guy(who was probably the one who killed him at the ecstasy deal)he was able to satisfy his need for revenge.

When Maggie killed him it was symbolic in that he has let go and taken responsibility for all the bad things he has done in his life.

This is a theory that was inspired by the show Lost.
