How is this considered a comedy?!?!?!
It's nominated for Best Comedy at the GG. What? The subject matter was sad. I can't remember one thing remotely funny about this movie.

shareIt could easily be called a dark comedy, I think.
sharei didn't see anything funny
shareI agree, I also have no clue why this is considered a comedy? The genre details on Netflix doesn't say comedy, it just says drama.
At any rate, it's straight up drama. Although, parts of it might be considered kind of funny, its almost like they tried to satirize a pretty serious subject involving statuary rape but failed miserably.
Not sure this is the best subject matter for satire but even though I never laughed I did kind of chuckle at the music. It's just the same piano music throughout the entire film. Weird score to say the least.
And the characters come off as somewhat mentally handicapped and very child like. Honestly, I didn't like this film but I do think there is some pretty good acting going on here.
Overall, it's loosely based on the Mary Kay Letourneau case. She was the teacher that slept with her 12 year old student. The only thing it has in common with the real story is the age difference and the flash-back photographs shown off and on throughout the movie, they posed like Vili and Mary Kay did back then. The rest is pretty much Hollywood. I'll give it a 5.2 out of 10. Decent film but nothing all that interesting.
All American Girl: The Mary Kay Letourneau Story is better.
