Elba's Performance, as spoken of in October

I watched Beasts the day it was available and just to be clear, I'm a huge fan of Idris and his work on the Wire. Having said that, I was active on this board and read up quite a bit on Beasts the week it came out(and flopped). My recollection of the general consensus of Elba's performance at the time was
"Good, possible very good, but probably not Oscar Worthy" with some even saying he did a below average job. My personal feeling is that this could have been a momentous role for him, but it simply did not fulfill that.

Fast forward to January of 2016 and the general consensus is that Elba was "criminally robbed" of a nomination.

Make of that what you will.
