Atheist

As an atheist myself, that segment with the atheist woman complaining about the family that prayed before eating their meal in the restaurant made me want to slug her. I could see saying something if they loudly prayed for the entire meal but they were only saying grace for God's sake! If there really are atheists as rude as that actress...I've never met one.

Now I could definitely see Christians getting that rude if a Muslim family put down prayer rugs in the middle of a restaurant and started stretching and praying out loud but then I've never heard of Muslims in America doing anything so inconsiderate.

I felt the same way. I, nor anyone else I know, would ever speak up to the family and be so rude. It was such a backwards setup anyway. Of course christians are going to stick up for other christians. How about doing one where the atheist needs stuck up for? Maybe two atheists are talking and a christian interrupts telling them that hearing about atheism makes them uncomfortable. I thought the point was to see what people would do in real life situations where the easiest thing to do would be to do nothing.

I agree. I wish they would have done a segment like that to see how Christians would react. I bet many would respond badly. I used to work with this Christian lady and she would brag about not going to convenience stores ran by Middle Eastern people because she said "They don't believe in god and they are all terrorists." I suspect that most believe in a god, just not her god.

And I've seen rude Muslims doing stuff. Your point? There are rude people everywhere!

reply

The problem is when Christians think their beliefs must be accepted as truth because it is Christian and then being rude to force that belief on others.

reply

That was an awful episode. Its a total stereotype.

My own brother claims to be Christian but I think the things he says about Muslims are horrible. The problem is that his priest is likely to just say that we are all sinners and imply it is totally acceptable.

Your brother thinks he is Christina. Are you sure this is a religious problem, not a sexuality one?

Reminder: The O.C. resets to its first episode on POP network April 1 @ 2 p.m. EST

Maybe you have not met many rude atheists because you are too ignorant to see past your own. Why did you have to bring Muslims into this?

How about just keeping it between atheists and Christians like in your first example?

Coming from an agnostic.

Better watch out, better start crying. Better hurry up, run and hide. Krampus is coming to town! >:)

You are being too vague for me to understand what you are saying.

reply

Of course you'd be saying "Christians would do this.." Umm wow. Just no.

reply

...doesn't take much to draw the ire of the butt-hurt religious nuts. 
