Upcoming Maiden show

Anybody in the Winnipeg, MB area, Wednesday June 30th, Maiden will be playing there. My buddies band, Automan.ca is opening for them. For those of you familiar with the Killer Dwarfs, Automan.ca is fronted by Darrell "Dwarf" Millar, the drummer for the Dwarfs as well as Laidlaw (former). Automan.ca came about when Darrell (Unkle Dunk) was on tour with Laidlaw, opening for ZZ Top & Lynyrd Skynyrd. During sound checks, he was singing into the mic & one of the roadies was amazed at how much he sounded like Bon Scott. Bon just happened to be one of Dunk's idols.

So when the tour finished, Dunk was back in Toronto waiting around on Laidlaw when he put together a little side project, Autobon, a tribute to Bon Scott era AC/DC. I was at one of their very first performances (which was also attended by a couple of former members of the Dwarfs, which got the ball rolling for the "Reunion of Scribes" tour, which is a whole other story). (At one point, Russ "Dwarf" joined the band as a second guitarist) From that, he & his guitarist, Carlton Lockhart decided to start writing their own material which sounds heavily influenced by AC/DC & the Rolling Stones. John Fenton, the bassist with Autobon also stayed on board, and they recruited new drummer Adrian Cavan. They have put out an EP, "Test Drive x/5" and their debut album "Pocket Change".

They will be going on a tour of the U.S. starting this summer as well, so look for their dates.
