Iranian Culture

I love this movie because I felt like it gave me a glimpse into how a group of young Iranians might interact with one another under a extreme predicament.Similar to any other group of human beings, but the dynamics are defintely different.

Does anyone know what might've happened to the friends if one of them admitted that they knew she was engaged?

They said it themselves towards the end of the movie: They would be "accomplices" to Elly's deception (in the view of some) and Elly's loss of honor.

I have to say I would stay well clear of people like this who have no idea what the truth is.

I was wondering the same thing. (You obviously know from what they said in the movie that they would be viewed as accomplices and are asking what would happen to them because of that. I would stay clear of people who dont understand the question.) They kind of gave the impression that there could possibly be legal consequences but i dont see how. Maybe so though. They certainly made it seem pretty serious.

I was intrigued in how About Elly dealt with Iranian culture in the context of Elly's character. The men's annoyance and anxiousness of their honor, along with Elly's revealed deception, makes viewers ponder the gender aspects of Iranian culture.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.
