To start off, I loved this movie and even gave it a 10 for the way it sucks the viewer into the story and really connect with the characters. My interpretation of the ending is that Elly has died. But after the fiance leaves, they move the setting back to the villa, where they show the group trying to push a car that is stuck in the beach. And a woman that seems like Seppideh sitting inside. How is this final image even relevant to the movie? And why would anyone take that car there? Is it the director's way of telling us you don't ask questions about this movie?

My interpretation of that scene is the contrast of Elly as an individual versus the group as a collective. While everyone else is outside trying to collaborate/work together, Sepideh is inside, separate; doing her own thing. In a way this kind of reflects how Sepideh had been acting throughout the movie, making choices she thought were best and not being honest with everyone else, like how she hadn't actually booked a place to camp, telling the villa owner that Ahmad and Elly were newlyweds, hiding the bag, hiding the cell phone, etc...

I think it was just showing that the group were moving on, they had finished their involvement in finding out what happened to Elly and letting her family know and were now going back to their normal lives. However, Sepideh wasn't ready yet as she was obviously more emotionally involved in Ellys story

This is what was going on in my mind. Very powerful scene to me.

The car was there already. They took three cars to shine their headlights towards the sea on the first night after disappearance.
They used other two cars afterwards but left the red one on its place.

The final shot to my interpretation is that they are moving on (both literally and metaphorically) as a group and leaving Seppideh.

Well other replies are far more eloquent but how about that they are and will be in a way stuck there forever with the incident and decisions that they all made individually and collectively.I know it smacks of metaphor 101 but I think that it may apply.Cheers from New Jersey.

That scene to me was a metaphor for the whole movie: they're all idiots. It's like the joke about the Newfie who puts his left foot up on a chair to tie the shoe on his right foot.

Ask yourself: if your car were stuck in the sand, what would you do?
a) pull it out with the 4-wheel drive car they've been riding around in
b) jack up the rear wheels and put something under them to get traction
c) have everyone push the car

I'd go with a and b; c is stupid. Someone also suggested that it's a symbol that they are stuck with their lies, etc., which makes sense. But I'd say it basically shows they're a bunch of idiots.

I like this explanation the best.

It was baffling to see them pushing the hopelessly stuck car when they had a 4-wheel drive car at hand.

My interpretation was that the sunken car following the image of the alone Seppideh shows that she's stuck with the story and blames herself. The beach and its story will forever be embedded in her mind and even though her friends may help, she won't budge. She, and the others, have lost something on that beach they can't get back.

Also, they took the car to shine light into the sea to look for Elly. There's another scene when they try to take the back but it's stuck. It
