Steven Seagal has been my favorite actor since he made Above the Law in 88. Since he's an Akido master, he should have no problem doing the fight scenes, the hand stuff at least. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with him, an illness (no rude comments please). Sometimes it seems that he's wearing a neck to hip support of some sort for a back problem because he moves very stiffly but that could be his Akido training as well.
The only other alternative is that he pumps the movies out, one after the other with as little time invested in them as possible with a decent return of money to keep up his lifestyle.
These 2 reasons would explain his voice dubbing and stunt double for simple fight scenes.
His age can't be the reason because I'm about the same age and I have no problems moving around and I could stand to lose a few pounds myself.
I don't really know what illness or back problems you are referring to concerning Steven Seagal, but I doubt any stiffness he has has anything to do with age, especially if you take into account all of his lifelong training. Many martial artists who train as hard and as long as Steven Seagal has can remain flexible and keep their speed well into their 60s, 70s, and even 80s. Look at Pat Morita. He still had plenty of flexibility and speed up until his death at the age of 73. According to his IMDB history, Morita didn't even slow down late in his life. He still had several movies yet to be released up to 4 years after his death. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that at 70, Morita was able to take down several up and coming martial artists half his age. Age is really just a number, you know. Martial artists don't all of a sudden lose their abilities when they turn 50 or 60, you know. In fact, many can keep their shape well into their 80s. It all depends on how they train themselves.
FYI, Steven Seagal has been one of my favorite actors for years, as well. It would really suck if he did indeed have some kind of illness or back problem. It would slow down his career.

That's the reason I'm wondering if something happened to him that wasn't just age related. He walks stiffly, as if he has to be careful about the way he moves, his martial arts fighting is limited to hand movements, he no longer does his own running, among other things. My post wasn't meant to put him down. He's one of my very favorites also. I just don't understand why he has become so limited in his movements in his movies over the past so many years.
I did watch a few of his movies from last year, but I never really noticed anything different. I guess I wasn't really paying close enough attention to his actual movements, though. I hope there's nothing wrong with him, myself.
