Goofs, anachronisms
In the sex scene between the blond (Brittany Snow) and the male performer, they play part of Dr. Hook's 'Sexy Eyes.' That was released on Dr. Hook's 'Sometimes You Win' LP in October of 1979. The movie was set in late July 1979. In fact, 'Sexy Eyes' didn't become a top hit until early 1980. I realize the song wasn't 'consciously' heard by the actors/actresses in the scene, but even as background music, it was sloppy to include it when it could not have been available at the time the movie was taking place.
More unforgivable was the use of the basement where Lorraine was held captive and where the sheriff and deputy made that shocking discovery was improper. There are practically no basements in residential dwellings in all of Texas. This has to do with the level of the water table and how close the bedrock level is to the surface. It is so costly to dig out a basement that only the most opulent, houses have them in TX. Certainly not the old farmhouse featured in this movie.
It's just too easy to fact-check these things with the use of the internet these days, so I don't understand how people making a period piece like this could make these errors.
