"Ain't none of them are good girls." If you don't let your GF sleep with this dude, she's gonna' be sleeping with every Tom, Dick and Harry.

What's this all about? Promoting open relationships? Saying that sexual repression/lack of experimentation is bad and leads to regrets and bad decisions down the line.

Strange message, strange way of getting a point across. Part of the reason the critics have latched onto it perhaps? A sex positive film they say.

The character who says that is full of shit, and has at least some self-awareness that he's full of shit. He's manipulating camera guy because he has a personal and financial interest in seeing Jenny's character do a sexual performance.

Basically this. Both the meeky sound director and the old woman made bad choices because they were supposedly repressed.
