Why are drag queens bitchy?

Oh god oh god oh god oh god....I have been sucked into the wormhole of watching past season of this show on amazon prime! (I watched one other season years ago.)

What I don't get about drag queens is, Why do they feel compelled to act like these Glamazon Mega-C#nts (basically)? Is it just genetic that if you're drawn to doing drag, you also have some "nice girl" molecule missing from your genetic makeup? I just don't get why most of them are so mean all the time. Do they behave that way because that's what drag fans want to see, or is that just how they are, personality wise?

Of course some of the contestants seem humane....but I don't understand why dressing in drag seems to suddenly turn these gals into the evil queen from SNOW WHITE...

I just started watching today.

At a guess I would say, the theater of it. The drama. They're not dressing up like housewives, they're doing DIVA. Divas aren't usually very nice. I suppose that's why queen was put after the word drag? I don't know. Just musing here...

Because they are in character and can get away with it in that respect. It’s not real. It’s all a show, a drama, an act. They can be whoever and say/do whatever. Once it’s said and done and they get changed back to their real self, it’s been said and done by someone else. It can’t follow them.
But some of the things they do and say...oooouch!
Also, it’s what people want to see - what can they get away with? How dramatic can they be?
They are not meant to be turning themselves into nice, ‘normal’ women.

All the drag queens I know are mean in and out of drag.
