I'm fine with Alaska killing it and winning. I think she deserves it--she's an amazing queen.
Is it boring to see everything people bring out each episode? Their creativity is enough for me. I guess that's why I don't really like competition shows--I'd rather see these queens succeed in what they are doing than to see them fail or get nicked from the running because of someone else's strategy or some stupid twist.
There's a show on Lifetime called The Rap Game where five young hip hop artists compete for a contract with a record producer. They have ten weeks, with new mini and major challenges each week, but no one gets eliminated in the competition. At the end of each week they receive a spot on the "Hit List", from five to number one. So they are recognized for doing well, but their growth isn't cut short by them being tossed from the competition.
I like the style of that show more because it allows these people to develop their talent and craft. I would love it if the queens that have been on this show had that kind of opportunity to interact with each other and have a shot at all the challenges, if only to improve their art after the show.
The queens eliminating queens is working--people only seem to find it unfair when someone they like goes home early. Tatianna was weaker in this challenge than Roxxxy--her product was a stretch and generic--it didn't really represent her or her as a brand. Roxxxy had a product that made sense for drag queens, and her specifically because of the double wig reveal she's known for.
