HORRIBLE ACTING BY MEGASHARK
I wish the megasharks agent would be fired. the megashark does so much better on the discovery channel specials, he should stick to those.

shareAgreed. Mega shark was totally outclassed by Giant Octopus in this movie. Look forward to seeing them on the screen together again.
shareNo way, the octopus got his ass handed to him, mega shark took down a plane and the golden gate bridge.
I...drink...your...MILKSHAKE!
I DRINK IT UP!!!
I think it's really a testament to Mega Shark's limited range that it was he who had to commit the acts of extraordinary spectacularism. Giant Octopus was all about nuance, subtlety -- you could see some early Brando in the way he moved around in the deep.
Not sure what Mega Shark's problem was, but I agree with the OP: he needs to fire his agent.
totally agree the mega shark got his ass handed to him buy mr octo, hell never work in hollywood again.
shareThe Giant Octopus is a true method actor, a true Stanislavskian if there ever was one, where as Mega Shark has been getting by on his looks for years. Now of course there are film actors and there are movie stars, I think it's clear who's who in this one. In total honesty, I'd say that this dynamic worked though, sometimes in certain rolls just being a movie star is enough. Point in case, rumor has it that Julie Taymor has been tabbed to direct the staged adaptation of Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus and she intends to maintain that dynamic, she's been in contact with Kenneth Branagh to play the Giant Octopus and Mathew McConnaughey to play Mega Shark, more details to come...
shareMy main problem with Megashark's acting was his insistence on always being photographed from the left in his swimming scenes. I know the tabloids are always after him about his alleged plastic surgeries and botox, and while I rarely give the paparazzi any credit, it's possible they could be onto something.
Notice how in the scence invloving Megashark attacking the airplane we only see him from the front for a split second. I mean, this was Megashark's "Oscar Moment" and they cut away! Clearly the director had a self-consious starlet on his hands.
And before you write back and say that they photgraphed Megashark from the right at the Golden Gate bridge scene, I happen to be friends with the Giant Octopus' double/stand in, Earl. Earl was on the set that day and swears Megashark wouldn't come out of his trailer until they relit and reblocked the scene so he could be shot from the left. The poor director had to flip the image just to get the angle he wanted!
It's enough to make me not want to support Megashark or his movies, but then I remember all the poor African babies he's adopted through the UN.
Hmmm, maybe they should team up again for a Shakespearean adaptation of some sort. I remember I read in Variety a while ago that they both wanted to do something with more depth. They also complained about being typecast, which I can understand. When you see them in action in this movie you quickly realize they're way too skilled to be limited to the giant-monster genre.
shareI heard they both gave up mainstream acting and are now doing porn!!!
Hell is other People
I agree with the previous posters that Giant Octopus stole the show. In the closeup shots of his eye there was so much depth and feeling in his expression that I could almost taste the raw hatred. To think that he and Megashark are pretty good friends in real life makes his talents all the more impressive.
Every time Megashark was on screen he was so stale that I felt like I was watching the same stock footage again and again.
I was in acting class and guess who strode in? MegaShark! It was so awesome to have a celeb in there and the dude was so humble. We got paired up to do a scene together. I figured he was going to try and do a scene from Jaws, but wouldn't you know it...he has an inner yearing to do a musical so we ended up with something from The Music Man. The guy can really belt a tune.
shareI belive fired is to big of a strech, but I agree this wasn't his best performance. I have been a fan of Mega Shark since his early work and there is much range in his acting.
That said, Giant Octopus totally was Oscar worthy in this film.
