Brooke and Destiny Question

I didn't get that whole exchange between Brooke and Destiny when they were in the knife store looking across at the Frederick's of Hollywood-type store. Brooke mentions what she could buy with the $1200 she now has and seems to be bargaining with Destiny about something. Promising her the knives for her carving contest. I've been scratching my head over that one. Can somebody explain? Thanks!

Brooke has $1200 which she got from Bob (or his daughter). Brooke tells destiny that she could buy a lot of clothes with that money, but instead she is going to buy her these great knives, so that she can carve something great and beat Laura.
