Release date

I know IMDB says it's out 2012...

but Olivia Wilde tweeted:

oliviawilde : Should be out end of this year or early next year. Keep it on your radars. Funny stuff.

reply

Crossing my fingers. I think it will play the festival circuit first though, hence a mid 2011 release is more likely.

reply

It's confirmed to be premiered at NY Film Fest this fall.

reply

Can't wait! It looks hilarious.

I'm wicked through and through...

reply

It wasn't on the NY Film Festival list that was released today.

reply

No such thing. It was shown at Toronto I believe. Not at the NYFF.

reply

That would be kind of weird to release it in 2012 when it's already filmed wouldn't it?

reply

Well it would depend on how long it took to get a distributor. It's not too uncommon for a film to be completed and not released if they struggle to get a distributor.

Just because you're too stupid to understand it, doesn't mean it's a plot hole

reply

hah are they ever going to release this? I saw it so many years (?) ago I'm not sure I can even remember it anymore and it still doesn't seem to have a release date?

Anyway since it has been shown at a festival I guess I can talk about it now though at least.

reply

It's at a lot of film festivals. From the director's website:

Theatrical release is scheduled for 16 March 2012

reply

Haha, wow, that took forever. I think I saw it like ten years ago and
I think the kid in the movie is married now with three kids hah.

But as they say better late than never.

reply

Per boxofficemojo.com, the release date has been pushed to October 5.

reply

Really?
Crap.

I thought Garner doing Leno at the end of January was a good sign that it was coming (I figured she was doing promo because she's about to give birth).

Do you know if they are re-shooting some scenes?

reply

No idea but don't think so. Probably pushed it to be closer to the November election!

reply

Good thinking. Use the momentum.
And Garner will probably be in a better place to promote the hell out of it.

Cheers!

did this movie ever get released?

reply

Release date is October 5, 2012.

reply

I'll believe it when I see it hah.
Wow. So bizarre. I saw what seemed like a totally finished cut like I don't even know when, must be going on two years ago now? It seemed fine and finished. I hope they didn't decided to go and mess it all up or something. I thought it did well at the last set of focus groups though so I wouldn't think they would, but I suppose you never do know. I guess I can see avoiding the whole late spring summer crowd though if they missed last fall.

Filmjerk.com has it premiering in "select markets" so it sounds like it's only going to be in a few theaters. But there hasn't even been a trailer or any kind of publicity except for something on Entertainment tonight in like 2010 which I'm sure no one remembers...

reply

It got plugged by Jennifer Garner on Leno in January as if it was to be released like a couple weeks later but obviously not.
Very weird.
Yeah select markets sounds like an indie theater or two in NYC and that is it.
Anyway, at least I already got to see it.

I liked it and it seemed to go over really well.

I don't know why it ended up basically straight to DVD, really weird. Basically it hit some film festivals and then the odd theater here and there and that was all she wrote. And I've never seen a movie get a promo from an actress on Leno and then suddenly get delayed another six months and then with zero promo hit a couple theaters and then basically never arrive. Bizarre. Sort of shame, really. I don't get it.

At least I did get to see it projected on a big screen way back when, sometime in the early 70s I think it was.
