Rob Corddry...

I always find him to be an annoying actor, or, rather, he keeps playing annoying characters. However, I thought he was really sympathetic in this film playing the loving father. There were many sweet scenes between him and Yara Shahidi (Destiny).

I really enjoyed this movie because of him. it was surprising to me too.

you might want to check out some of the stuff with his little bro Nate.

I have seen him in United States of Tara and latest episode of New Girl (pleasant surprise).

he's a solid actor, this was an excellent character for him where he gets to put forth his caustic witty humor, but still be realistic and relatable.

Always loved him, huge fan. Hes the reason I checked this flick out. So I disagree with ur first part, but totally agree with you that he was great in this. I came on the boards just to see who else agreed.

I really enjoyed watching him as a normal, sweet "father type" instead of playing the a**hole, cocky, goofy funny dude (which I love). Hes the man

Agree. I read the book and thought...

1. Dang they wrote a fantastic screenplay

2. Rob's version of "M" is so much more "right" for the story than the "M" in the book

This was a refreshing change to what I normally see him in. I liked him very much in this movie because he was still pretty funny, but in an endearing way, not an offensive (or more often annoying) way.

I think he's usually a funny guy, but here playing a super cool dad, he was really likable. Think he did a really good job.

reply

Yeah I thought he was one of the very few bright spots in this film.

Side note, I actually met him, only for a few minutes, but he was really friendly and seemed like he'd be a really fun guy to hang with.

Yeah I wasn't a huge fan back in the Daily Show days, but then I saw Hot Tub Time Machine - that turned it all around. I thought he was great in this as well.
