I've noticed that Nolan haters are generally very stupid

They don't even understand his films, it is very sad and pathetic and I feel sorry for them.

NolanTARDS are SNOBS

They love proclaiming that The Dark Knight, in being so “realistic,” is somehow the most true to the dark, psychologically intense world of Batman. They say this because:

(a) They want to convince themselves that Batman comics really are intended to be this realistic and intense and

(b) They want to convince others that what they read is so realistic and intense so that they can feel less embarrassment at still reading them in their 20s and 30s. The reason they overrate that movie so much is because so much personal validation is tied into that movie for them. So the more realistic the movies are, the more comic fans will claim to anyone who will listen that they just witness a movie that is exactly like the books they’ve been mocked for reading for decades."

Haha, you speak so much truth. I wish I could remember this word for word the next time someone starts talking about Nolan’s Batman movies.

There’s not much to understand. His films are typically a boring, structural mess with characters who are nearly impossible to root for. Nolan simply isn’t the “genius director” that his fans want him to be, and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean that you guys have to shit on people who have a different opinion. And look, if in 40 years people are STILL talking about his movies (which I doubt very, very much), then we can revisit the “Christopher Nolan is a genius” talk. For now, though, all you have are a few well-shot commercial flicks, not cinematic masterpieces.

I think if you actually understood them and were smart enough to appreciate them you would be a lot happier with yourself.

Lol, okay.

The Batman movies are certainly Nolan's lesser movies... His other ones are far superior aesthetically, emotionally and conceptualy... Momento, Inception, Dunkirk, Interstellar... all tower above the spandex series, i.e, his batman trilogy...

The Dark Knight, while one of the best comic movies out there is still just a comic book movie... It's not at the level of mastery of say Paul Verhoeven's Robocop, which as a true classic trancends it's genre..

I agree with you on Memento, Inception and Interstellar. I did not like Dunkirk, it was shallow and uninteresting. No story.

I liked that he tried to make a movie with a thin plot for once and I thought it was stronger for it as it didn't have the usual exposition and had more mood and atmosphere than his usual movies...

It's good that he's willing to test his limits and I preferred that approach for Dunkirk, but I can see how it would fall flat for other viewers..

reply

Yeah I like his more complex movies, all of his films before tested me psychologically and messed with my head and that is what I wanted out of Dunkirk and instead just got another standard action flick (ie. Black Hawk Down).

Looks like actual Nolan fans didn't like the batman films. The rest of us that liked the films aren't really much of Nolan fans. I actually like this depiction of batman being realistic and darker. (Not that dark sense he still refuses to kill badguys. Even wachy tim burtons batman kills the bad guy.
