Such a depressingly good movie.....
Just saw this and in one way it was quite difficult to watch because of how real and raw it felt.
Such wonderful acting and actors all around. Not only that, the feeling of "real" people was so stark and all throughout the movie.
Some other poster commented how what was portrayed was not America and that is a load of BS - this flick is AMERICA. I've known too many people that live like some of those portrayed in this film.
As for the ending, I'm assuming what the intention was, but at the same time, I think the filmmaker ended it the way he did so the viewer could interpret the ending any way he or she wanted to.
On top of that, the portrayal of the Simon Rex character stayed genuine - no great epiphany to make the character change or pull a rabbit out of his hat, but just genuine to the character all the way.
