As much as it sucks that we only got 3 seasons...

I'm kind if happy the series ended the way it did. I mean obviously I would have loved to get more seasons out of the show, but the last two episodes were really good. They kind of had a Friday Night Lights (and other serious sports movies) type of feel to them while still managing to keep the humor. The last episode also tied up some loose ends nicely. We got to see Alex get his crazy party picture as well as grow a little bit and accept his responsibilities, we got to see Thad actually remember Sammy's name, we got to see Sammy actually do something useful without screwing it all up, we got to see Thad have a winning end to his college career, and we got to see one of BMS's biggest wins, even if it was for the whole "love of the game" reason.

Overall, I guess it's obvious that it blows that the show got cancelled. But, I don't think they could have ended it in a better way than they did.

Fully agreed. I love this show so much, but not every TV show or movie needs to go on forever or needs sequels. Take a deep breath and appreciate it for what we've got, ya know?

BMS in 3 seasons really wrapped up great, delivered awesome, and stays firm in your memory. Some forced 4th season or a movie may lower the bar.

That being said, if everything came together, I'd say bring it on, but they set a high bar for themselves!

with a show like this, I'm surprised that they were able to get 3 seasons out of it since they didnt do much to advertise.

But a 4th season would have been out of the question. It would not have been the same without Thad. In fact, I thought that getting him to come back for his senior season was a bit of a stretch considering he was the top LB in the country and was projected to be a top 5 pick (according to the vision quest episode with brian bosworth).

to echo what another poster dsaid...the series finale was right on point

Here in America most TV shows just keep going until they completely run out of ideas and the ratings dwindle to the point it HAS to be cancelled. Seems like British TV has a better grasp on the idea of just making what's good, and calling it a day before it jumps the shark. Shows like Spaced, Saxondale, etc were only 2-3 seasons long, on purpose. They don't believe in jumping the shark over there I guess. Not saying British TV is better (I just named 2 of the only maybe 6-7 I actually like), I just think they know when to quit. I think the idea of going out on top is completely foreign to networks over here. Even if the star of the show leaves, they'll bring in a replacement and keep it going, because it's still making money. Shows won't stop until the money/ratings go away. Lost is the only show in recent memory that I can think of that ended because they wanted it to end.

So having said all that, this may have been a merciful end to the show. It's better to remember a show as being good (though whether or not this show was good is a matter of opinion, but I hadn't gotten tired of it yet) than to have it go on too long and leave a bad taste in your mouth. I'm not sure how they would have continued anyway, unless they started to make multiple seasons taking place in the same semester. Otherwise we would have had a rotating cast which could have been bad too. I wouldn't want to watch the show without Alex or Thad.

Like you I wasn't yet tired of BMS. I guess they wanted to wrap up with a quality season than forcing it.. I believe the star was Thad Castle. Sammy was all right but sometimes his story lines would just go on and slightly annoy you.. But I would stick through every episode...

I believe that Season 3 was better than 2, but not as great as 1. Radon was a character that I couldn't like, specifically since he shot Alex in the second episode (which would be an injury that would at the very least end your season).

I had high expectations after Season 1's finale, and I was frustrated that we lost Shilo so dang quickly... Like I said: Radon sucked. The best episode of Season 2 was the pilot... lol

They would've had to introduce a lot new characters to keep the show fresh for a 4th season, especially with Thad no longer around which would've been a big void for the show to make up. Maybe they could've had season 4 be about Moran being a contender for the Heisman trophy among other things. But I think they would've been a lot more hard pressed to come up with fresh ideas for a 4th season.
