what's up with 'the immigrant and the ugly' in casting

Noomi Rapace no way looks "Swedish", if one looks at her at first sight on the street they would think she is hispanic or Puertorican. She is the most important lead character, can't they find a genuine Swedish girl? Michael Nyqvist no way looks Swedish, he looks like an immigrant Arab. Ugly, old and unattractive. Lena Endre looks utterly weird, wrinkled, old and ugly, and has a "I-am-so-pretty" attitude, which is annoying. And was it absolutely necessary to hire a pregnant lawyer with bad skin bad hair and bad teeth? General Swedish people are known to be one of the most beautiful population in the world, they are NOT like this. What happened to the tall lovely Swedes? Are they all dead or what?

Yes, they all died during the Black Death. And along came arabs and wrinkled old, ugly and weird types. I think this is the funniest post I've read in a long time. I almost choked on my coffee. Noomi isn't Swedish, Nyqvist is an arab, LMAO, I really think he would do the same if he read this. And on top of that a pregnant lawyer with bad skin, teeth and hair?

Well, Annika Hallin who played the lawyer was pregnant in real life. In fact so pregnant that just 2 hours after the last shooting she went into labor, talk about being able to hold it in. Maybe that's why she, according to you had a bad hair day. And ugly teeth. I thought she was beautiful.

Noomi has a Swedish mother and a father from Spain but far from looking like a hispanic. Nyqvist is born in Stockholm and has no heritage from anywhere else than Sweden. Where is the arab-like in Nyqvist?

i've lived in stockholm and swedes like any where else, come in all shapes and sizes. they're not all 2m tall, blonde haired, blue eyed.

Yeah, LOL at Nyqvist looking like an arab. And all the other bs. When I read this post I thought I was going to choke on my coffee, not possible to be taken serious cause the movie isn't Cinderella. And what's up with "all blond tall good looking Swedes"? I'm from Sweden and it's exactly like you say; people here looks the same as anywhere else - short, tall, dark, white, fat or thin. I was on the Alexander Skarsgård's board where someone said that he/she was so disappointed when visiting Sweden cause where were all the beautiful people? I hope you enjoyed living in Stockholm though!

yes i did, it was actually Sollentuna, 25 years ago now. beautiful country. Stockholm is a beautiful city especially the Gamla Stan (sorry spelling?)
I'm really enjoying a whole wealth of scandinavian writers Henning Mankell, Jo Nesbo, the millenium trillogy obviously. just started The Hypnotist and have red wolf on my kindle. do you have any other recommendations?
In Australia at the moment and have a lot of time to read.

That's nice. Yes Stockholm is a beautiful city, especially during summer. And Sollentuna is a nice suburb. And no wrong spelling of Gamla Stan although that is the place the citizen of Stockholm would normally avoid during summer cause it's so crowded with tourists.

There's a bunch of great writers in Skandinavia but I'm not so sure you'd like my suggestions as you were kinda scary in the other thread. I was surprised when I realized that you're the same poster, lol. But let me see... you're obviously into crime thrillers. We have a bunch of Swedish female writers like Åsa Larsson whom I would like to recommend. She's really talanted. She's from Norrland (like Larsson) and most of her plots takes place there and gives the books a certain athmosphere. There's also Camilla Läckberg but THB, I'm not a huge fan of her style of writing although her stories always take place in Fjällbacka, an absolutely beautiful little summer ville on the west coast of Sweden. Liza Marklund is another one. Håkan Nesser is brilliant and so is Leif GW Persson who's also a brilliant criminologist.

I think this enogh for you during your vacation this summer, hope you'll find something you like!

i also visited the archipelego several times as my then girl friend's family had a huge summer house there. once again - beautiful and serene. loved the spendrops old gold as well

vacation? if only. i'm working but at least the sun shines here most of the time (Brisbane).

I suppose that Lena Olin doesn't fit your view of a Swede then uh? And she's Swedish through and through with brown eyes and brown hair. I suppose she wouldn't be considered your kind of ABBA type gal.

Talking about Michael Nyqvist. I suppose you think both Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson are your version of non-Arab Swedes. Both are not that good looking and Bjorn Ulvaeus isn't any taller than Nyqvist. And Benny Anderson has dark hair and dark eyes.

What you want is clearly more an Alexander Skarsgard type. And then again even his father Stellan is quite swarthy and a bit portly.
