The Girl Who Gently Nudged a Few Sleepy Moths
From a great first film, the quality of the film series markedly decreases. However, whilst it certainly wasn't brilliant, The Girl Who Played With Fire still had plenty of action, twists and a threatening (albeit unlikely) villain, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets' Nest, by comparison, is little more than a tedious courtroom drama with a bolted-on conspiracy angle. It is seriously dull. Lispeth is hardly in it (indeed, what does she kick?), and Blomkvist mooches about like a sulky teenager while not really doing anything, either. Plus, having established the fearsome and Terminator-like Neidermann in the previous film, he just wanders around picking on cyclists until he has a supremely anti-climactic final confrontation with Lisbeth. And what a final scene! A truly epic "See you around". "Yeah, whatever" moment. If only Frodo and Sam had done the same.
