You are one of the most whiny posters on IMDb, but for some odd reason you're one of the funniest too. And you've already asked this questions years ago, and you never reply back.
But okay. The lawyer, Annika Giannini, is the sister of Mikael Blomkvist and that is also why she took the case. She reluctantly agrees to represent Lisbeth since she hasn't got much experience in handling murder cases. But what she does have is an extensive experience in representing women, in women's legal issues.
That she was pregnant was just a brilliant idea, not only because Annika Hallin was preganant in real life, and gave birth 2 hours after the final scene, but also a smart move from the director. I guess you'll have to figure out why, yourself.
Not sure why you complain about her looks, she looked absolutely fine to me, and proved herself to be a shrewd and tactical litigator. But then all you do is complain about people's look on IMDb. Be glad she didn't have a ghastly turkey neck or had a tiny head and yellow skin. I hope you don't come back with Nyqvist looking like an Arab. Thanks for the laugh.
PS. I would personally love to make a film with a Hercules in a wheel-chair.
