Tom Cruise wasn't singing; it wasn't his voice unless heavily processed
Truly hideous.
shareI heard it was his voice, i don't doubt that it was heavily auto tuned.
shareAccording to IMDb, he underwent 4 1/2 months of vocal training to prepare for this role. I also read somewhere that he was spending up to five hours a day singing. Tom is a very good actor and it's pretty clear that he worked his ass off to embrace the persona of a rock star. All this work and someone decided to auto-tune his voice to the point where it was borderline comical. Sad.

It cracks me up when people get all high and mighty and say do some research noob! Any idiot can google an article with quotes from the producers/people who helped out on the movie who say Cruise is a great singer. Because everyone in Hollywood always tells the truth...
Watch these two clips and tell me the guy from the first clip is the same guy hitting those amazing notes in the second one.

It was his voice. Do some research before posting ignorant threads.
shareWhat spasek said. Definately Tom's voice. I've been watching him since the early 80s, I am very familiar with his voice.
Can you hear me?....They did this
I have serious doubts it's Brand's voice though, I know brits tend to lose the accent when they sing, but it was nothing like his speaking voice at all.
shareRussell Brand has done a lot of singing. I am sure he is singing his songs in this movie as well.

brits don't lose an accent when they sing, they add an american accent.
His anus is soaking wet- Walter Bishop - Fringe
It was him, in an interview Tom Cruse said the day they shot the scene where he sang Wanted Dead or Alive, John Bonjovi & Ritchie Sambora were on the set and he was nervous as hell to sing the song in front of them.
shareYes, it's his voice. Remember him singing in Top Gun? Tom Cruise's performance is by far the best thing about this movie.
Russel Brand also sang in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek.
Yeah, I remember him singing in Top Gun.....and Jerry McGuire...both were hideous. Are you somehow implying because he sang in those movies, he was good in this one?

Whose idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have an "S" in it?
Cruise is pretty dedicated to his craft and he actually trained for hours every day for 6 months to get his voice right for the role. Obviously some auto tune was used but he really did sing here and imo knocked it out of the park.
shareHe sounds better than this "profesional" singer ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHBdUMLDJ6s
shareI thought he knocked it out of the park too. Great performance.

"I might be a Gung-Fu expert... but I need cash!"
It wasn't "Wanted Dead or Alive", it was "Pour Some Sugar on Me", and Joe Elliot said that. And he also said Tom Cruise sang the song very well.

It was him singing. Of course they messed with it with the machines they have...just like they do for everyone else that sings in a studio.
I remember when this movie came out, I read an article where Joe Elliott and I think it was Rick Savage(not 100% sure but there was another memmber of Def Leppard) went to hear Tom Cruise sing Pour Some Sugar On Me and give him any pointers he may need. They talked about how they walked in, listened to him sing, and said he didn't need any help, that he nailed it.
In the movie, well during the credits I guess...I think he actually sings Paradise City the best. Just my personal opinion.
