Keanu found his niche

I think this type of material is suitable for Keanu. He seemed comfortable in this setting, moreso than he does in American films, and his acting was exactly as it should be. I think he was very convincing in the role of a stoic warrior. But he always seemed to do extremely well with stoic or introverted characers.

I wasn't sure about how I would feel about Keanu playing a "half-breed" Japanese man but he did not seem out of place. As a collector of asian movies (Korean action/drama/comedy and kung fu), I generally dislike westerners in eastern films. Perhaps Keanu's heritage works for him as a biracial asian/white actor.

The story and it's theme was tactfully and respectfully done.

I also enjoyed Man of Tai Chi for what it was. So I think he is doing a good job. It's not meant to be an oscar caliber movie so I tend to disagree with critics looking for a different type or style of movie.

The statement below is false.

I like how Reeves' interracial background made him perfect for the role. I'm sure he's heard worse than being called half breed while growing up. Except this time, he's been paid millions to have the slur thrown at him this time.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.

That's interesting, do you also dislike Asians in Western films?

I agree with the OP about Reeves, but I also agree about this sentiment. A general dismissal of an entire race in films made in a particular region is… interesting indeed.
