Is there reason for the female protagonist?

Seems to be emulating Ash (chainsaw) minus any of the humor and just focusing on generic horror. There was a reason why Evil Dead was unique among the horror genre. Unless she was in the comics or whatnot, this so-called remake of the evolution of evil seems to be that it progressed onto a female.

This film seems a lot more similar to the Fede Alvarez reboot from 2013 than the Sam Raimi trilogy. They seem to be using that as a springboard more so than the original films.

From the trailer a female lead works! However I agree with SASKIA47 , this do mirror the Alvarez reboot. We will see. I will watch this on opening day.
